Join Giant Eagle as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee in our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you’ll support pharmacists with prescription processing, customer service, and inventory management while learning pharmacy operations. You’ll assist guests with questions, help maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Assist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with prescription processing, including data entry, counting, packaging, and labeling medications under direct supervision.
Provide courteous, efficient customer service at the pharmacy counter and by phone, referring clinical questions to the pharmacist.
Operate the pharmacy point-of-sale system and assist with processing insurance claims and resolving basic transaction issues with guidance.
Support inventory control by helping receive, stock, rotate, and organize prescription and over-the-counter products, checking dates and reporting discrepancies.
Maintain a clean, orderly, and compliant pharmacy work area, following all safety, sanitation, and security procedures.
Protect patient confidentiality by following HIPAA and company privacy policies at all times.
Follow established pharmacy workflows, standard operating procedures, and regulatory requirements as directed by the supervising pharmacist.
Collaborate with pharmacists, technicians, and store teammates to ensure efficient operations and a positive customer experience.
Participate in on-the-job training to build knowledge of medications, pharmacy terminology, and regulations and to progress toward technician certification, where applicable.
