Responsibilities:

• Reviews Medical Records to identify diagnoses/procedures.
• Assigns codes for all appropriate diagnoses using ICD-10-CM
• Assigns CPT and/or HCPCS codes for all procedures performed, including all applicable modifiers.
• Enters all diagnoses, charges (with CPT attached), modifiers and all other required information according to each client’s specifications.
• All physician/QHP practice locations may be assigned (inpatient, observation, office, RHC, etc.)
• Resolves all front-end coding edits
• Works directly with patient financial services to resolve payment denials or billing edits.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum two years recent experience in Evaluation & Management Coding
• Minimum five years recent experience in diagnosis coding using ICD-10-CM
• Minimum two years' experience in minor procedure coding using CPT and HCPCS
• High School Diploma or GED.
• One or more of the following:
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
  • Certified Coding Specialist for Professional Services (CCS-P).
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
  • Registered Health Information Administrator
  • Specialty Certification for E&M from AAPC, NAMAS or similar
