Job Description

Job Title: Medical Assistant (MA)

Reports To: Clinic Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hiring for multiple locations: Southglenn, Broomfield, Broadway, Lafayette

Summary: Support practitioners and other members of the health care team by gathering patient medical history, taking and recording vital sign information, and assisting with minor office-based procedures. Conducting testing, medication administration, and patient care as ordered by a practitioner. Must be available weekends and evenings.

Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Greets and rooms patients including taking all vitals such as height, weight, temperature, pulse, respiratory, and/or pulse oximetry.

  • Completes intake of patients in the room including reviewing medical history, social history, medication lists and chief complaint.

  • Anticipates if the provider needs any other tests run including Hgb Mc, Quick Strep, Rapid Flu, Urine Dip, and pregnancy test.

  • Conducts call backs as directed by providers including getting lab results, prescription refills, files, re-scheduling, and general messages.

  • Responsible for injections, phlebotomy, setting up and assisting with procedures, nebulizers, and EKGs.

  • Opens, closes, cleans, and stocks exam rooms. Autoclaves instruments.

  • Front Desk: answers phones, checks in/checks out patients, and processes referrals when needed.

  • Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards, facility policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local requirements.

  • Participates in required city, state, and regulatory training and meetings as assigned by the employer.

  • Performs any other duties that assist in the operations of the office.

Additional Job Functions:

  • Conducts Occupational Medicine testing including audio testing, pulmonary function testing, respirator, fit testing, physical capacity exams, Department of Transportation (DOT) exams, Federal Aviation exams, etc.

Job Requirements

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Basic knowledge of medical terminology.

Math Ability:
Ability to calculate medication dosing, height/weight conversions, figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Google Suite. Experience with Experity preferred.

High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Specialized Training: Medical Assistant Training

Certificates and Licenses: Medical Assistant License/Certification, Basic Life Support (CPR & AED) certification
