Job Description

Role Primary Purpose
It is the responsibility of the Clinical Educator to facilitate all aspects of clinical training for
Home Care Aides and nursing staff in accordance with NYSDOH regulations and Joint Commission

Education & Experience

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensed to practice in New York State
  • Baccalaureate Degree preferred; Associates Degree required.
  • Minimum of two years experience conducting Home Health Aide training and In-services.
  • Knowledge of New York State DOH Regulations and Joint Commission Standards
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn offices as needed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Administers written or oral performance tests as required by the curriculum.
  • Assesses training needs and plans in-service education for Home Health Aides and nursing staff and certification training programs for Home Health Aides.
  • Conducts competencies and offsite Supervised Practical training for scheduled training classes.
  • Conducts Home Health Aide competencies for potential new hires.
  • Conducts home visits as needed.
  • Participates in orientation for newly hired nursing staff.
  • Facilitates the curriculum according to published Instructor and Student guides.
  • Facilitates training using activity-based curriculum intended to develop the professional skills,
  • Facilitates weekly in-services as scheduled.
  • Incorporates evidence-based research into educational plans and nursing practice.
  • Maintains current knowledge of trends in home health care.
  • Maintains staff development policies
  • Manages student behavior to maintain a productive, positive, and safe learning environment.
  • Manages classroom materials and room set-up.
  • Models professional behavior and exemplary customer service.
  • Observes and evaluates student work to determine progress, and provides feedback.
  • Participates in information sessions for Home Health Aide training candidates.
  • Participates in ongoing professional development, including but not limited to conference calls, one-on-one coaching, in-services, and peer observations.
  • Plans in-service education programs in conjunction with Director of Clinical Services.
  • Prepares statistical and productivity reports as required by regulations, agency policies and/or as requested by Director of Clinical Services.
  • Works with individuals of diverse backgrounds/experience levels managing differences in opinion and perspective.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Suggestions for improvement.
  • Knowledge and performance of workers in their jobs as Home Care Aides.

Physical Requirements

  • This role will require bending, sitting, stooping, and standing.

Working Conditions

  • Most of the work of this role will take place in an office setting, with random field visits. It may require occasional evening and weekend work.
