The Health Service department at SIUE is seeking qualified candidates to fill a full-time, Phlebotomist vacancy. Under direction from a designated supervisor, the Phlebotomist will conduct procedures to collect specimens from patients and perform waived testing at the Student Health Service clinic. The selected candidate will review and process procedure orders; ensure accurate documentation; screen patients prior to procedure; collect specimen and prepare for processing; and prepare and communicate results as needed. This position will ensure all instruments and/or areas are cleaned and maintained according to regulation including safe handling of sharps and biohazard waste materials. The Phlebotomist will maintain current knowledge of and adheres to all government, industry, or institutional regulatory guidelines. Additionally, the Phlebotomist will perform various support duties such as registering patients, answering phones, assisting with inventory, and records management when required. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on department need.
The hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. [37.5 hours weekly]. The University, including student health clinic, is closed for major holidays including Martin Luther King Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (Thursday and Friday) and the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
