The Center for Rheumatology seeks a Medical Assistant to work in its busy Saratoga Office, whose primary responsibility will be supporting the Providers and staff and maintaining an effective and efficient work environment that enables the Providers to focus on delivering top-notch patient care to individuals living with rheumatological disorders. The Medical Assistant is responsible for preparing patients for treatment and providing personal care services to patients in a private practice health care facility. The Medical Assistant performs duties utilizing specific knowledge of medical terminology, hospital/clinic and laboratory procedures.
Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Rooms patients and measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information in patients' electronic charts.
- Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.
- Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment.
- Hands instruments and materials to doctor as directed. Assists providers with procedures and treatments.
- Cleans rooms and maintains supplies, including stocking new supplies and disposing of expired or damaged supplies.
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
- Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.
- Participants in meetings and/or various trainings.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times, per HIPAA regulations.
- Adheres to Universal Precautions for Bloodborne Pathogens (OSHA); Maintains OSHA compliance.
- Prepares and updates electronic medical records for patient visits with necessary information as needed.
