Medical Assistant
 

Your Role:

 

Supports the licensed healthcare team in performing office examinations and procedures by organizing and managing clinic patient flow, gathering and documenting patient screening data, assist with patient and family education and communication with patient's health care team.

MA sign on bonus:*

  • $1,500 - 1 year or less of experience
  • $5,000 – More than a year of experience

*Medical Assistant Sign On Bonus Eligibility Requirements:

  • The sign on bonus is available for full-time Medical Assistant positions.
  • This sign on bonus is not applicable to current VUMC staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC in the past year.
  • The installment will be paid after 60 days of employment

Job Requirements
This position requires a High school graduate or GED and relevant years of experience or the equivalent.

Preferred Education, Skills, and Experiences:

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required
6 months - 1 year of Medical Assistant experience or the equivalent is preferred
Medical Assistant experience in an outpatient settingĀ highly desired
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration (LCR):
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required

Additional Qualification Information:

Medical Assistants must have and maintain a certification from one of the VUMC approved MA programs within 90 days of employment. Vanderbilt endorsed MA certifications: American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Healthcareer Association (NHA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP). Others organizations may be considered on a case by case basis.
