Job Description
The Device Clinic Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the Device Clinic.


Essential Job Functions:
  • Coordinate the complete delivery of care and management of the cardiac device patients of NSC.
  • Perform in-office and remote pacemaker and defibrillator checks. Documenting the device evaluations in GEMMS and PaceArt.
  • Perform device programming and troubleshooting.
  • Provide physical examinations with attention to rhythm, blood pressure, signs of congestive heart failure or heart/valve disease.
  • Manage the Pace-Art database of the NSC cardiology device clinic patients.
  • Support the quality and related administrative needs of the EP services at NSC under the direction of the EP physician collaborator and administration.
  • Provide remote pacemaker follow-up management and expertise with trans-telephonic monitoring, home monitoring remote follow up technology and web-based databases.
  • Oversee the scheduling and daily operations of the device clinic and the clerical and clinical support staff assigned to it.
  • Identifies opportunities for enhanced workflow in the clinic in collaboration with the EP physician collaborator.
  • Ensures correct billing and coding of device checks.
Job Requirements

Master’s Degree in nursing or Bachelor or Masters’ degree in Physician Assistant science
Current New York State license as an Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant with prescriptive authority.
Current BLS/ACLS certifications.
Minimum of 2 years Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant experience and prior experience in the management and care of Cardiac EP patients. Current knowledge base in management of cardiac patients is required.
Experience in performance improvement and quality reporting.
Expertise in EP/device management in patients, skills pertinent to management of atrial fibrillation and pharmacologic management of patients is desired.

Physical Demands:

May spend a great deal of their professional day walking, standing, moving, and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment, and supplies. Ability to lift 20 pounds. Moving, lifting, or transferring of patients or objects may involve lifting of up to 50 pounds. Requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend or twist their body, as well as visual acuity.
